You’ve Met With a Terrible Fate, Haven’t You?

Somehow you have managed to find yourself in this world, for real! You may have started as an MMO Alpha tester who tried to jailbreak his VR unit or you may have been someone who died while in the game and for some reason died in real life. There are many reasons why you have come to live in this world but the only thing that matters now is, your decisions really are a matter of life and death…

  • Isekai’d characters are the most restricted of the origins because they don’t wear a VR set that they control, they actually are their characters in the flesh. They can range from being 100% real life to being 99% MMO character.

  • Play this Origin Story if you want to “live” in a D&D world and make choices that a “real” person would make while retaining all the knowledge you have from our world.

  • Bonuses

    • Immutable form & Tied to The World - Your form cannot be changed and you cannot be taken from this plan of existence without your consent.

    • Glitch - You are a bug/glitch in this world, as such you can do things only glitches can. You choose a “Glitch” at levels 1, 10, and 20.

      • Glitches

        • No Clip - Once per long rest on a successful Luck Roll, you can No Clip through reality. This allows you to bypass walls, doors, etc. Be careful though because if you fail the roll by 10 or more, you take 2 Hit Die worth of damage from getting part of your body stuck in the “wall” and having to forcefully remove it.

        • .Hack - Once per long rest, while in combat, you can choose to double the damage of one attack vs a glitched creature. This cannot stack with a critical hit and must be declared after the hit but before the damage is rolled.

        • Bring Them Back - Once per level, when a character fails their last death saving throw, you can instead bring them back with 1 hit point.

        • Jail Break - Once per level you can choose one core mechanic and choose to ignore it and bypass it. In function, this is a free Critical Success once per level.

        • Alter self - Once per level, during a long rest, you can alter yourself in one of the following ways.

          • You can cast the Alter Self spell on yourself

          • You can change up your stat distribution and proficiencies. You do not gain anything new you can only rearrange them.

          • You can change your last level up. You choose to change what class you leveled up in last or what abilities you took in your last level up.

    • Fight Fire with Fire - You can naturally see and affect other glitches. You can naturally see them unless they are actively hiding. If they are you have advantage to spot them. Your attacks also affect them without any resistances or immunities.

    • I’m Not Crazy! - While you are technically no longer tied to your NDA or “Immersion Contract” you don’t know what could happen if they found out you were in the game. Technically you are the same kind of glitch they are actively trying to destroy. Maybe this was the plan all along or maybe destroying glitches is just a cover-up to keep the government from knowing whats really going on here. Who knows? Maybe we are all just living in a simulation after all…

  • Race Restrictions - Your character must be “humanoid” in shape, size, and features. You must have 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head, no wings, between 4-7 ft (Medium sized*), etc.

    • The character can be considered large for checks as long as they are actually medium-sized

    • This character must also have the Humanoid type.

  • Class Restrictions - Technically none*

    • While there are technically no restrictions, “magic” would not come naturally to you. Try to create a character without magic to start and you can “discover” how to cast it on future level-ups.

      • This is 100% a suggestion and you can create whoever you want. You can also keep this roleplaying only. (Create a character with a spellcasting class but don’t cast spells for the beginning games.)

    • If you want a fully customized experience, try to use this class. I will work with you to modify the class with features you want to have that are not already included. This is also the most complex class in the game so don’t take it if you are easily overwhelmed by choices.
